Canyon Springs High School is located in the City of Moreno Valley along Pigeon Pass Road at the base of Box Springs Mountain. The campus had unique constraints for a football field, which G.O. Architects in Upland stepped in to solve in 2016. With creative geometrics, they were able to preserve the existing baseball fields and fit the required lengths of track and field into the available space. Epic then coordinated and designed the complicated vertical transitions from Pigeon Pass Road down to the stadium and parking lots, along with other improvements comprising the 14 acre project.
The high school sits on impermeable soil which required bioretention facilities to satisfy state water quality requirements. These facilities tucked nicely into unused space along the project’s perimeter, and can now be used to educate students on the environmental impact of developments and the methods by which to offset that impact.
